The Ashram

The Ashram was founded by Swami Adyananda Saraswati to provide assistance in physical care and spiritual growth to the rural poor. The Ashram is located in Cuttack in the state of Orissa in India, about 20 miles from the famous Sri Jagannath Temple at Puri.

The Ashram staff are active in helping local villages and schools.

 

Mission

The mission of the Ashram is to

  • Create awareness in the society about the importance of health care, education and sanitation,
  • Set up health care centers at interior locations,
  • Conduct health camps in remote rural areas,
  • Assist helpless destitutes, orphans and elderly,
  • Bring Vedanta in a simplified and practical way to the local people.

Areas of Activity

The Ashram conducts activities in the areas of:

  • Health care through an onsite dispensary on the first floor and frequent health camps in nearby villages,
  • Yoga and meditation instruction, Yoganidra, Mahashakti Kriya in the meditation hall on the first floor,
  • Regular (daily) deity worship and spiritual discussions at the temple on the ground floor,
  • Training and generation of Swastya Seva,
  • Services for children, the poor and destitute in nearby villages.
  • The Ashram is also affiliated with the US-based Kidney Clinics and Research Centers International, Inc. (KCRI) and helps support local Dialysis Centers.
